At Cheshire Crossing Animal Hospital, we believe
in necessary and progressive treatments for our pets. With the advancements
in medicine and medical technology, our diagnostic and medical options continue
to grow. These are some of the services we offer you for your pet's
well being. If you have any questions regarding any of these services,
please call us at 740-549-0900 for more information.
Laser Surgery
Our doctors perform surgical procedures using a state-of-the-art
surgical laser which provides many benefits to our patients. Because
the laser cauterizes as it cuts, there is less bleeding and a reduced risk
of infection. With laser surgery, there is less pain and swelling associated
which promotes a quicker recovery.
Often times, you will speak with us to get a better understanding
of the upcoming procedure that we will be performing on your furry companion. We
do our best to give you an accurate picture of what will happen on the
day of surgery. Please
understand that we take every precaution we can to minimize the risks associated
with anesthesia, surgery and post-operative care. In addition, our
surgical treatment plans include blood work, IV catheter, hydrating
fluids, anesthesia, technician monitoring and pain medication as well as
the procedure itself. In
specific circumstances, we will include any additional diagnostics that may
be specific to your pet.
In-House Blood Work
In addition to physical exam findings, it may be necessary
to run blood tests on your pet to help get an accurate picture of what’s
going on internally. Because our clinic was built with the highest standards
in mind, we have the capability to perform most of that blood testing in
our lab, right here in the clinic. In most situations, we are able
to give you results before you leave your appointment which may mean less
anxiety for you and a quicker
response to an illness for your pet. Being able to perform blood testing
here at the clinic also means that we can respond much quicker to emergencies,
should that occurrence ever arise.
In-House X-Ray
Should the need ever arise for x-rays, our highly qualified
technicians are able to accommodate your pet immediately, right here in the
clinic. Doctor Ballard
and Doctor Carpenter are able to interpret films and put together a treatment
plan for your pet. If a consultation with a specialist is necessary, the
x-rays are sent out and read by a board certified radiologist. Results and plan
of action are available within 24 hours.
Behavior Consultation
Animal behavior is extremely important to us at Cheshire Crossing
Animal Hospital. It impacts all aspects of your pet’s life: their own
well-being, their bond with you and the rest of their "human" family,
as well as how they interact with other pets, people and places outside of
your home. Because our pets play an active role in our daily lives, and we
want to be the best “pet parents” possible, it’s important
that we work to strengthen and maintain the bond between pet and pet owner.
Our first priority is your pet’s well-being. We want
your pet to be a happy, confident, well-mannered companion that fits well
into your family. We can help you get started and stay on the right track
from the moment you bring your new friend home all the way through to your
pet’s golden
years. It’s much easier to prevent bad behaviors before they begin.
In doing so, we may help prevent potentially dangerous situations as well.
Behavior issues are the leading cause of pets being surrendered
to animal shelters. We will help you understand your pet’s behavior
and work to preserve the bond you have with them. We also want to strengthen
the bond between you, your pet and our staff. Our goal is to make your pet’s
visits to our hospital as stress-free as possible. With less stress (from
getting your pet into the car to having their nails trimmed), veterinary
visits may even be something to look forward to instead of dread.

At Cheshire Crossing Animal Hospital, the doctors and
staff consider dental health to be a top priority. A thorough examination
of the mouth with emphasis on the teeth and gums is an integral part of
every pet’s physical exam.
Disease of the gum tissue, known as periodontal disease, affects 85% of
adult dogs and cats. Left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to pain,
bad breath, and tooth loss. Over time, chronic bacterial infection of the
mouth can lead to disease in other parts of the body such as the heart
and kidneys.
We all know that caring for our own teeth involves frequent brushing,
flossing, and rinsing. And while we may have the very best...read more
